Looking for a temporary, pneumatic method of stopping/holding an actuator in position?

AKP and ASP Series Pilot-operated Check Valves can conveniently provide this functionality at the actuator. Both products will trap the air in the actuator once the pilot signal is removed, thus holding position. This can be a simple means of achieving an intermediate stop or for temporarily holding position due to a loss of air pressure or emergency stop. Both have a pressure relief option to permit a manual release when needed. The ASP also includes a meter-out speed control to set actuator speed. If long-term holding is required, SMC also offers brake packages in a number of actuator series, but the AKP and ASP may be good for a number of applications.
