Banner S25G1 Galvanic Isolator

Protect RS-485 Networks Without Compromising Communication

The S25GI Galvanic Isolator eliminates ground loop failures and electrical faults in RS-485 networks by electrically separating communication and power paths while maintaining native Modbus RTU operation. It blocks surges, EMI, ESD, and voltage offsets without degrading signal quality, eliminating a common failure mode where a single grounding issue can disable communication across an entire production line. This protection is critical in facilities where Modbus networks span multiple power zones such as material handling systems, water treatment plants, and production lines with high-power motor drives.

The isolator integrates directly into existing architectures with native Modbus RTU/RS-485 communication that requires no PLC reprogramming or protocol changes. A rugged IP67 connectorized inline design allows the S25GI to be mounted directly on the machine using connectors on both ends, eliminating the need for field wiring or splicing and simplifying installation in space-constrained or distributed systems.

Integrated 200 mA power pass-through, which is sufficient for multiple sensors, indicators, or I/O modules, reduces wiring complexity and installation time without sacrificing protection between network segments. This design simplifies retrofits and system upgrades by allowing devices to be added or relocated without redesigning control logic or power distribution.

The S25GI delivers flexible system architectures through electrical segmentation, preventing a single grounding or wiring issue from disabling communication across the entire network. With compatibility across Banner's Snap Signal line and third-party RS-485 devices, the S25GI supports mixed-power Modbus systems and multi-vendor deployments. The compact, inline industrial form factor integrates cleanly into panels and junction boxes, enabling rapid network expansion and fault-tolerant topologies that prevent single-point failures from cascading across multi-segment Modbus networks in high-availability production environments.
